Covid Memorial for Essen, Germany: COMMUNITY STRETCHER (GEMEINSCHAFTSTRAGE)

Opening: March 22nd 2024, exactly 4 years after the German government imposed the first lockdown and the whole country came to a standstill..

A 6-metre-long stretcher as a public place for empathetic commemoration and critical discussion about the COVID-19 pandemic and its consequences, which can still be felt today..

In 2022 we had been awarded the first prize in the ars liturgica competition with our proposal for a Corona Thinking Place / Covid Memorial for Essen, Germany.
